It was a great day on the slopes of Banff Sunshine! Although I stuck to the green-blue runs, I am still pleasantly sore and proud. The mountains here are BIG. Plus, there were plenty of Santa and Mrs. Clause skiers to keep me entertained!
Skiing has this innate tendency to free the soul and work the body in a way that feels satisfyingly exhaustive. Food tastes better after a day of carving fresh snow. It is invigorating on every level.
There is a comfortable camaraderie amongst mountain hoppers no matter what the skill level. We can barely each others faces but still assume we all have wide-ass grins beneath our balaclavas. Getting on a chair lift and spending many minutes, either in silence or unexpected conversation and laughter, is a rare opportunity for the human spirit to feel fed through connection. Such joy emits from beneath all the layers. Merry day!
(I spent two weeks in Canada and the NW of the US.....I healed, I challenged mySelf, and I came home feeling happy, fulfilled, and ready for more!)
